Brazil trip opens eyes to biofuel vs. food shotages
The demand for biofuel isn’t the only reason for skyrocketing food prices. The prices for other commodities such as gold, silver, copper and aluminum have also risen dramatically and people don’t eat precious & semi-precious metals, nor are metals required as an ingredient in ethanol production. A group of législateurs français were impressed with Brazil’s biofuel industry, but said Europe would have to balance biofuel usage against the need to guarantee food supplies.
